Síntoma, 2020
Exhibited in Masculinidades, +Arte Gallery, Quito, Ecuador
Síntoma is glass, silkscreen, and photography installation that invites public intervention on a female body. It asks whether an audience can relate to an exposed image as a body, and how far that relationship can go. The piece was gradually taken to the edge of destruction, revealing tensions between care, violence, and spectatorship. Materials included a hammer wrapped in nylon mesh, a seashell containing freshly drawn blood from the artist, a ceramic leaf-shaped brush holder, and pink lipstick—objects that framed the action. Síntoma opens space to question structural violence and the fragile boundaries between body, image, and social norms.
