FOES/DOES

This project explores the act of transforming into the shadow — the transmutation of what has been evaded within our rational psyche, and the recovery of its power and tools.

Each photograph emerged from a guided meditation designed to work with the shadow, structured by Ramiro Villacreces and psychologist Andrea Fernández.

The act of transvestism generates tensions across different layers of cohesion — social, physical, and psychic. These performative gestures confront us with our fears, becoming exercises in both individual and collective self-knowledge. Each moment of transformation is captured through photography. The portraits are accompanied by creations made by the participants themselves, expanding the dialogue between image, body, and symbol.

The series is presented as a tarot spread, where each image functions as an archetype — a reflection of transformation and multiplicity.

Collaborators and participants: Ramiro Villacreces, Andrea Fernández, Paula García, André Rangel, Sebastián Paredes, Jose Mora, Álvaro Chiriboga, and David Cevallos.
