E.D.G.A.R. is a one-meter-tall egg through which he hopes to free Ecuador from the bad energies that haunt it. The dynamic is simple: although the exact origin date is unknown, for centuries the egg cleansing ritual has been used to protect, heal, or release negative energies or the evil eye. And that’s precisely what he hopes to achieve by taking the sculpture to different places across Ecuador.
“Violence, unemployment, the pandemic, insecurity… Ecuador has faced so many adverse and painful situations in recent years that one can’t help but wonder if, in fact, we’ve been cursed with the evil eye,” says the artist David Cevallos.
